Who used them ?

-Used by artisans and craftsmen as signature.
-monogram were indicators of social (family wealth) or commercial exclusiveness.
-Used to signify different society, guild, allegiances,sect.




CHI RHO
- The symbol of Jesus Christ in early centuries.
- Consists of the first two (capital) letter Chi and Rho (XP) of the greek word "ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ" (Christ)
-Often accompanied by the "Alpha" and "Omega".

- Based on the name "Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie" 
- Established 1602












Classical Monogram

- Very elaborate and elegant.
- Influenced by various art movement : Gothic, Victoria, Nouveau

- Very minimal and commercial.
- Influenced by various art movement : minimalism, pop art, post modernism.
- Applied on virtually (wedding, logos,etc...) Fashion : LV, Gucci, Chanel ...
